History

Historic Walla Walla Charm Reimagined and Redesigned

Originally known as Green Gables Inn, The GG in Walla Walla was built in 1909 by Clarinda Green and Rowland Smith on homestead land owned by Clarinda's parents, William and Mary Green. Constructed for $9,000 at the time, the home remained a private residence until it was acquired by the Upper Columbia Medical Missionary and Benevolent Association. For the next thirty years, it served as a home for nurses working at the Walla Walla General Hospital across the street (now the North Hall Dormitory at Whitman College).

In 1990, Jim and Margaret Buchan purchased the historic home, meticulously refurbished it, and converted it into Green Gables Inn, one of the first bed and breakfasts in Walla Walla.

Karrie & Brian

Today, the property is owned and operated by Karrie and her husband, Brian, who moved to Walla Walla in 2021. The GG in Walla Walla has been completely redesigned by Connie Blumenthal, Karrie's sister, whose passion for interior design is second only to her love for art and antiques. Updated to reflect its original splendor and elegance, offering uncompromising accommodations with refurbished guest rooms, which include European linens, Nespresso makers, and mini fridges and streaming TV's. The GG in Walla Walla has entered a new era of sophistication and charm.
